Official Storm Preparedness and Public Safety Notice

The Sandisfield Fire Department is closely monitoring the upcoming winter storm and has taken proactive steps to ensure public safety. The Fire Department will be

fully staffed, with increased personnel on duty at the firehouse, to address storm-related emergencies and community needs.

Residents are advised that severe weather conditions, including hazardous roadways and difficult travel, may result in delayed emergency response times. Forecasted temperatures in Sandisfield are expected to be extremely cold, which increases the potential for weather-related and medical emergencies.

Town Hall will be open as an Emergency Warming Shelter for residents in need.

In the event of any emergency or developing issue, residents are strongly encouraged to call 911 sooner rather than later. Early notification allows emergency services to mitigate issues before they escalate into life-threatening situations. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Heating system failures

  • Oxygen or other critical medical equipment issues

  • Cold exposure and other weather-related medical concerns

For public safety, residents are urged to limit travel to emergencies only. Please remain at home if possible and avoid unnecessary travel during the storm.

The Sandisfield Fire Department has worked throughout the week to prepare for this storm and has implemented operational measures to support safe and effective emergency responses. The Fire Department, Highway Department, Police Department, and Emergency Management have coordinated in advance to ensure the Town of Sandisfield is prepared.

For non-emergency questions or concerns, the Fire Department may be contacted directly at 413-717-8393.

Please stay safe, stay warm, and heed all public safety guidance.
